CORY AQUINO FORMER PHILIPPINE PRESIDENT (1933-2009)

August 1, 2009 around 3:18am, 20 days before the death anniversary of Benigno Aquino, former Philippine President Cory Quangco Aquino died by cardio resperatory arrest at the age of 76. Almost 2 years of fighting for colon cancer, the democracy icon is now in peace. The former president is the first woman in asia leads a nation and fought for democracy. She faced adversity with courage and directness.

Her unforgettable contribution to our nation is when she fought the dictatorship of former President Ferdinand Marcos who was also been suspected as mastermind of her husband's assasination. The EDSA1 or the Febuary 1986 revolution was appointed her as the first woman President of the Philippine Republic and the first woman in asia to lead her nation. She also Ousted President Joseph Estrada during EDSA2 on 2001.

Being a simple housewife who became a Philippine icon, Cory Aquino remains simple and reachable according to her close friends and relatives. Her faith turned her to a very kind person yet brave to face the challenges she has encountered. Knowing that she has colon cancer, President Cory Aquino remained faithful and brave to face her happy death. Now that she pass away majority of the filpinos specially those close to her is in mourning. Current President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo declared a 10 days of mourning to Philippine Nation.
